Introduction

Memovi ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service").

Information We Collect

Personal Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • Email address
  • Name (optional)
  • Profile picture (optional)

Video Content

Your video clips and compiled chapters are stored locally on your device by default. If you opt into our Cloud Backup subscription, your content will be stored securely in our cloud servers, protected by authentication and HTTPS encryption in transit.

Location Data

Location capture is disabled by default. If you choose to enable it in Settings, the app records approximate (city-level) location with each video clip. Location data is stored locally in the app database. If you also enable Cloud Backup, location data is included in your backup to preserve all your memories. You can disable location capture at any time in Settings.

Cloud Backup Data

Cloud Backup is an optional, paid feature that is off by default. When enabled, backups include your video files and associated metadata (recording timestamps, location data if enabled, chapter compilations, and collection names). Backups are stored in our cloud infrastructure, protected by your Firebase authentication credentials and HTTPS transport encryption.

Timezone

If you enable scheduled reminders, your device timezone (e.g., "America/New_York") is sent to our server so that notifications are delivered at the correct local time. Timezone data alone does not identify you personally.

Push Notification Token

If you enable reminders, we store a push notification token (provided by Firebase Cloud Messaging) associated with your account. This token is used solely to deliver the reminders you have configured. Stale tokens are automatically removed when they are no longer valid.

Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregate usage data. This helps us understand how the app is used and where to focus improvements. The events we track include:

  • Core actions (e.g., recording a clip, creating a chapter, creating a collection)
  • Sign-in and sign-up events (method used, not credentials)
  • Subscription purchases (product identifier, not payment details)
  • Cloud backup completion (chapter count)
  • Screen views (automatically tracked via navigation)

No personally identifiable information (PII) is logged — no names, email addresses, video content, GPS coordinates, or reminder labels are sent to analytics. Firebase Analytics may also collect device type, operating system version, and country-level location derived from IP address, as described in Google's Firebase privacy documentation.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain our Service
  • Process your subscription (if applicable)
  • Send important notifications about the Service
  • Respond to your inquiries and support requests
  • Improve and optimize our Service

Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Your video content stored in our cloud (for Cloud Backup subscribers) is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

Local data stored on your device is protected by your device's built-in security features and is not accessible to us.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share data with:

  • Google / Firebase — authentication, push notifications, analytics, and Cloud Functions
  • Cloudflare — cloud backup storage and API infrastructure
  • RevenueCat — subscription and purchase management
  • Law enforcement when required by law

These service providers process data only as necessary to provide their services to us and are bound by their own privacy policies.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of your data
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Export your video content
  • Opt out of marketing communications

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
